Academics

We welcome you to Aquin Schools. This is just the beginning of your overview of our schools. We welcome you and your child to see first-hand the opportunities that an Aquin education will provide.

By choosing Aquin, you put your faith in us to provide your child with strong spiritual and academic foundations. We take this responsibility seriously, which is why we do more than prepare our students for tests in the classroom-we prepare them for tests in life. Aquin is a place where students learn essential values:‚Äč
  • where high academic standards meet high moral standards.
  • where excellent teachers are also excellent role models.
  • where values like courage, compassion, competency and compassion are not just encouraged-they are expected.
At Aquin, we never lose sight of each student’s potential-to learn, to grow and to make a difference. We are committed not only to our students’ academic development, but to their emotional, spiritual and physical development as well. It is a commitment that leads to success for our graduates . . . in the classroom and in their lives.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rosemarie Brubaker, Superintendent

Assessment is an important component of an educational program.  At Aquin, we test students to measure attainment of curriculum goals. The results are used to plan for individual and group success.

For standardized testing, we use the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) in Grades 3, 5 and 7 and plan to utilize the new Aspire tests which are aligned with the ACT test taken by juniors for college admittance.  Aquin does not use the PARCC test.
