Walking of the Dawgs .
Colby Smith Memorial 4 Mile Classic .
Update . 10.03.08
God blessed us with an absolutely perfect day on Saturday, September 27, for our 2nd Annual Walking of the Dawgs and our 1st Annual Colby Smith Memorial 4 Mile Classic.
Over 300 people enjoyed the walk 'from puppies to bulldogs' and 94 people gave it their all in the run. Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, cheered and donated. The day wouldn't have been possible without you. Special 'kudos' to the Smith family who were responsible for the addition of the race to the day's events. They also hosted their own website, collected online pledges and turned out in full force in support of 'Colby's Team'. We are waiting for the race results and will post them on the website as soon as they are available.
We have totalled the donations, pledges, race registrations and sponsor dollars that have been collected so far.
Colby Smith 4 Mile . . . . . . . . . $ 2990.00
Walking of the Dawgs . . . . . . $13,376.50
Total to Date . . . . . . . . . . . . $16,366.50
We are far short of our $30,000 goal. While we are grateful for the amount received, we do know that we are far behind our $32,734 net total from last year. If you have not yet donated, please do so. (We asked for $130 per family to reach our goal. Collect pledges from friends, alumni, neighbors or co-workers if you are not able to donate the amount yourself.) We are also tallying 'family participation' for the incentives and SOS League commitments. Donations count as 'participation'.
Looking ahead . . . and with the gloomy economy in our vision . . . we know that this is a 'tough' year for fundraising. Our upcoming events are: Annual Appeal on October 20. (a mailing to all of our Alumni, Friends and Families asking for contributions to our schools) and Adesse on November 16. (sell $25 tickets which give the buyers a chance at winning a cash prize every day of 2009)
We need your help and participation for each campaign in order to reach our year-end monetary goal of $201,000 without adding more fundraisers to our calendar this year or making participation mandatory in the 2009-2010 academic year.
Thank you for your continued support in providing an affordable and valuable education for puppies to bulldogs!
