Welcome to Mrs. Morrison's Class Page!

Keyboarding 7 & 8:

This year the keyboarding classes have been redesigned.  Each class now meets for a full semester rather than 1 quarter, which allows for additional instruction in the programs students will be using throughout their time at Aquin and beyond.

For the 2009/2010 school year:

Keyboarding 7

  • Keyboarding/Typing Instruction using online typing programs
  • Open Office Writer Instruction (Microsoft Word Equivalent)

Keyboarding 8

  • Keyboarding/Typing Review using online typing programs
  • Open Office Writer Instruction (Microsoft Word Equivalent)
  • Open Office Calc Instruction (Microsoft Excel Equivalent)

Composition 8

In Composition 8 we work on improving writing skills in several areas.  We also prepare students for the many writing assignments they will receive in high school.

Some of the things we will focus on are:

  • Paragraph Structure
  • Matching Tone and Purpose
  • Avoiding Sentence Fragments and Run-Ons
  • Editing and Revising
  • 5 Paragraph Essay
  • Research Paper (including MLA format)

We also spend time working on a quarter project.  The 3rd quarter project is Greeting Cards.  Each student will write and create/design 39 cards for several different occasions.  The cards will then be donated to the residents of Provena.

Computer Applications 9

This semester course instructs students in the tools they need to be successful in other classes.

Instruction is provided in the following areas:

  • Open Office Writer (basic to more advanced features)
  • Open Office Calc (basic to more advanced features, including formulas and calculations)
  • Open Office Draw (a publisher-type program)
  • Open Office Impress (Microsoft Powerpoint Equivalent)
  • Webpage Building using HTML coding

Speech 10

Speech meets for one semester.  Students will learn about public speaking and speech preparation.

Students will prepare speeches in the following areas:

  • Informative
  • Process/How-To
  • Persuasive
  • Group Project - Old Time Radio Show

Requirements for Presentations (all are required on the first day of presentations):

  • Outline (typed and in complete sentences)
  • Note Cards (handwritten)
  • Powerpoint/Impress Slide Show (when required)
  • Works Cited

*Students are also required to speak within the Time Limit.
