DICTIONARY GIFT
On Thursday, November 20, each third grader in Mrs. Lutz’s class received a new dictionary from the Freeport Noon Rotary. The students were very excited to have their own dictionaries, and they couldn’t wait to start look-ing up new words. Thanks, Freeport Noon Rotary!
MID-TERM GRADES
Today, Thursday, December 4, the students in grades 4-6 will bring home their mid-term reports. Please sign your child’s mid-term sheet and have him/her return it to his/her teacher tomorrow.
JEAN DAY
Tomorrow, December 5, is a jean day. On this day, students if they choose, may wear jeans, sweat pants, t-shirts, and/or sweatshirts. Please refer to the Student Parent Handbook if you have any questions regarding this day.
ADESSE TICKETS
The 1st “Early Bird” prize announcement will be made on Thursday, December 11, following the K-12 Christmas Program. The team/class that, up to that date, has the highest Adesse sales will win the $300.
Also, if your family has any extra tickets that they will not be selling please return them to the school office. Thank you!
SNOW/COLD WEATHER
Please remind your children to bring their hats, mittens/gloves to school for recess. Also, to play in the snow at recess, the children must wear boots and snow pants.
FIRST RECONCILIATION
The second grade children of St. Joseph Parish here in Freeport will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on Saturday, December 6, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Our prayers are with these children as they experience the unconditional love and forgiveness from our loving God!
FOCUS MASS FOR 1ST RECONCILIATION
The 2nd grade students of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish are reminded to attend the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, December 7. The focus of this Mass will be on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Monday, December 8, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a holy day of obligation. Therefore, the students will be attending Mass on this day and not on Wednesday this week.
ADVENT UPDATE
Our local Salvation Army and Red Cross will benefit from our Advent mission this year; both of these organizations contribute greatly to the needs of our community. Our assistance will help the Salvation Army fill their Christ-mas baskets and help the Red Cross to assist in relieving local disaster victims. As of Thursday, December 4, the 2-Day thru 6th grade students have contributed approximately $202.29 for these deserving organizations.
Mrs. Gahm’s first grade class will lead the K-6 students at the 9:00 a.m. prayer service in Berg Hall on Wednesday, December 10. All are invited to attend!
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
All Elementary Campus families will receive a flyer in this week’s brown envelope with pertinent information about this year’s K-12 Christmas Program. Please note the change for the dress requirements and the new seating arrangements.
HEAD LICE
This week another case of head lice was reported. Once again, we want to alert you to please be aware in case your child exhibits symptoms of this infestation. Remind your child not to share hats, etc.
BROWNIES
The December 3 meeting that was canceled has been rescheduled for next Wednesday, December 10. Any questions please contact Mrs. Joanie Bald at 232-3341.
AQUIN FLEA MARKET
Flea Market is this Sunday, December 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Aquin High School Campus.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
The students in grades 3-6 will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation Tuesday, December 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Aquin High School Campus.
DECEMBER CALENDER ADDITIONS
Please add the following information to your December School Calendar:
Monday, December 15, 2008 - Mrs. Pospischil’s second grade class will be leading the Advent Service.
Tuesday, December 16, 2008 – is Market Day pick-up in the Aquin cafeteria from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
