How: Funds are raised through pledges, Dawgie Bag Tourney registrations, sponsorships and donations. Events include 'The Colby Smith Memorial 4-Mile Classic', 'The Walking of the Dawgs' and the 'Dawgie Bag Tourney'. There is also musical entertainment and food and fun for all ages.

Individual walkers and team walkers must pre-register the day of the Homecoming Parade if you want your name, team name or sponsor name listed on the 'DawgFest' t-shirt. We cannot guarantee late registrants will be listed on the t-shirt. You may register online or by emailing laura.diemer@aquinschools.org. You may also register at any of the Aquin Campuses. Send completed registration forms to the Business Office at 1419 South Galena, Freeport, IL 61032.
'DawgFest' shirts will be sold and can be pre-ordered on the day of the Homecoming Parade. All pre-ordered shirts will be available on the event day. Please submit payment promptly to either campus office or bring with you on the day of the Walk. Shirts will be available for sale on a limited basis at 'DawgFest'.
Team Members may be registered by their Team Captain, but on individual forms please.
When: Saturday after Homecoming Game
What Time: The Colby Smith Memorial 4 Mile Classic will begin at 10:00am. The walk will begin after the runners have started and will finish at Aquin’s Conley Field with food and fun of ‘DawgFest'. The Dawgie Bag Tourney will begin at 11:30am.
Where: The walk starts at the PreSchool Campus (St. Thomas Church) at 1400 Kiwanis Drive and proceed to the Elementary Campus at 202 West Pleasant and finish at the Junior-Senior High Campus at 1419 South Galena. Walk the entire route (4 miles), pick it up at any point in between or just walk at the Junior-Senior High Campus. There will be signs and people to guide you along the way, whichever route you choose. (The runners will be using a slight variation of this route, due to traffic concerns.)
Who: You!!
We want alumni, students, teachers, friends, friends of friends, Dawgs, neighbors of Dawgs, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles and anyone else who wants to have a great time in our community. Check out our schools, walk with our teachers, listen to our students and just enjoy the beauty of a fall day.
Why: The walk will support the Education Department at Aquin Catholic Schools. The Education Department encompasses textbooks, desks, lab equipment, library books, marker boards, projectors and teacher supplies for our PreSchool Puppies to our High School Bulldogs.
Walk in honor of your class. Walk in memory of a loved one. Walk in support of education. Walk to be healthy. Walk as a family.
Just get out and walk.
Please form a team or come on your own and join us for a day of active support!
Alumni Challenge!
Contact members of your graduating class and challenge them to raise funds for your alma mater. Set up donations on your website, designate a class rep to collect or meet on 'walk day' and bring your pledges! Anyway you do it, you'll be continuing the legacy of your Bulldogs. The walk is held the morning after the Homecoming football game and it is also the morning of the Combined 50 & Over Class Reunion. Plan a mini-reunion around these fun-filled events.
Family Challenge!
The Smith Family---Tim, Mida, Jennifer, Anne, Sarah, Amanda, Enid and Shannon & their families---initially walked together as a family in memory of their brother, Colby. Then they added the 'Colby Smith Memorial 4 Mile Classic (click here for info).
The Smith kids all graduated from Aquin and now Colby's children, Colby John, Sedona and Chloe, are students at the Elementary and PreSchool Campuses and will soon be the 4th generation of Smiths to attend Aquin High School. They even have an online donation site. Follow their lead and organize your family today!
It is this fine example of family action that will make 'Walking of the Dawgs' and 'The Colby Smith Memorial 4 Mile Classic' a huge success.
